Renal manifestationsPatients with hypophosphatasia can be affected by serious renal complications. Inhibition of bone mineralisation with hypophosphatasia can lead to the following secondary conditions:
  • Hypercalcaemia
  • Hyperphosphatemia
  • Hypercalciuria
Elevated levels of calcium and phosphate can in turn lead to nephrocalcinosis and renal failure.
